Sweet and Bitter Africa Guzmán
White Swan | Black Swan Choreography conceived and produced by Adam Sklute, with Original Choreography by Mark Goldweber & Pamela Robinson-Harris
Fox on the Doorstep Nicolo Fonte
Ballet West has toured the world several times over presenting the very best in American classical ballet. Sweet and Bitter by Africa Guzmán (Spain) uses Ezio Bosso’s score as a source of inspiration "to find strength and sensitivity and transform the most classic lines to play with the limits of gravity.” Also on the program, you will be treated to the two famous duets from Swan Lake (the Black Swan and White Swan pas de deux) as reimagined by the company’s Artistic Director Adam Sklute. Nicolo Fonte’s Fox on the Doorstep is an abstract narrative recounting Fonte’s encounter with a white fox sitting on his doorstep, seemingly divining his elderly father’s passing only a few hours later.
Join Dance Victoria prior to the performance for a pre-show chat in the theatre lobby. Dance Victoria invites a member of the company or a dance historian/researcher to discuss the Company and/or show you’re about to see. Pre-show chats begin about 45 minutes prior to curtain and are free to all ticket holders.
