Jay Onrait

Host, SC With Jay and Dan – Presented by Tim Hortons

Jay Onrait co-hosts SC WITH JAY AND DAN – PRESENTED BY TIM HORTONS alongside Dan O’Toole, airing weekdays at 12 midnight ET, bringing viewers their trademark charisma and humour combined with a snapshot of the day’s sports events, including highlights, trending stories, and popular segments like the fan-favourite “Ya Blew It!!!” Viewers can also catch Onrait and O’Toole each morning as the midnight broadcast repeats on a loop throughout the morning hours.

Born in Calgary and raised in Athabasca, Alberta, Onrait first joined TSN in 1996 as an editorial assistant while still in school. After graduating from Ryerson University in 1998 with a bachelor’s degree in Radio and Television Arts, Onrait went on to become the sports director at a television station in Saskatoon, before spending two years as the host of The Big Breakfast on A-Channel in Winnipeg.

Onrait joined NHL Network in 2001, serving as host of the network’s flagship show NHL On The Fly as well as Molson That’s Hockey 2. A year later, Onrait returned to TSN as a co-host of various editions of SPORTSCENTRE.

In 2003, Onrait was paired with O’Toole at the anchor desk, and over the duo’s decade-long run (2003-2013), became known for his humorous take on sports news and highlights, evolving the pair’s SPORTSCENTRE broadcasts into a pop culture phenomenon in Canada with a dedicated and passionate viewership.

In 2010, Onrait served as co-host of Olympic Morning on CTV alongside Beverly Thomson for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games. The following year, Onrait was recognized for his outstanding contributions to the world of sports with a Gemini Award for Best Sportscaster/Anchor after receiving a nomination in the same category in 2010. During the London 2012 Olympic Games, Onrait and O’Toole hosted SPORTSCENTRE live from Trafalgar Square.

Prior to re-joining TSN in 2017, Onrait and O’Toole co-hosted Fox Sports Live on FS1 (Fox Sports 1) in the United States.

A veteran sports broadcaster and on-air personality, Onrait is also the Canadian best-selling author of Anchorboy and Number Two.
