The Mavericks are back! With a new album and tour, this eclectic group shows us why their inherent chemistry and explosive sound are so enduring. Their blend of Cuban grooves and Bakersfield inspired twang netted them several CMA and ACM Awards plus a Grammy in 1995.
The Mavericks began their career within the punk and alternative music scene in Miami, Florida in 1989. They combined new country, Latin and rockabilly influences and have continued their genre bending influences to the present. The band is led by velvet voiced singer Raul Malo, and drummer Paul Deakin, the remaining members of the original band and supported by long-time members Jerry Dale Mc Fadden and Eddie Perez.
No Depression says, “Pinning down the Mavericks is like picking up mercury with your bare hands. Time-jumping, genre bending shamans, the band has no qualms about leaping cultures from song to song, somehow managing to keep their own identity intact while inhabiting the skins of others.”
