Public Health Update

March 23, 2020

Due to the evolving situation with Covid-19, we are taking further steps to ensure the health and safety of our team. We have made the decision to institute a complete shutdown of the Royal Theatre and the McPherson Playhouse until Tuesday, April 14, 2020. The complete shutdown includes over the phone box office services. The Box Office is available for refund requests of cancelled or postponed performances by email only. They can be reached Monday to Friday from 8:30am until 4:30pm at tickets@rmts.bc.ca. We thank you for patience as we work as quickly as possible to process refund requests.  We feel that this abundance of caution will allow us to do our part to help flatten the curve.

We will re-evaluate the situation in two weeks’ time.

The administration office is open virtually. The members of the admin team are working from home and are available by email. Please visit: https://www.rmts.bc.ca/about-us/contact for contact info.

Following the order of Dr. Bonnie Henry, provincial health officer, on the ban of mass gathering of more than 50 people, all events until June 1, 2020 at the Royal Theatre and the McPherson Playhouse will be rescheduled or cancelled. Our team is working extremely hard and is in constant contact with presenters and promoters about the affected performances. To the affected ticket buyers, do not worry about your tickets. We will be in contact in the coming weeks.

Please everyone take care of yourselves and stay healthy.

Thank you for your continued support as we all work together through this unprecedented situation.

Due to today’s public health advisory from Dr. Bonnie Henry, provincial health officer, The Royal Theatre and the McPherson Playhouse are closed to the public until further notice.

The health and safety of the Royal Theatre and McPherson Playhouse’s audiences, artists and staff is our top priority. The BC government announced that all gatherings of more than 250 people need to be cancelled. We are in the process of contacting promoters and presenters to discuss show cancellations or postponements.  All ticket buyers of affected shows will be contacted in the coming days by email or phone. The box office will be open Monday-Saturday from 10am-5pm.

We will continue to closely monitor the BC Health Ministry’s daily press conferences and continue to follow the directive of health officials and agencies. The latest updates will be posted daily.

We thank you for your understanding and patience while we all work through this challenging situation.

We look forward to being able to welcome everyone to the Royal Theatre and the McPherson Playhouse in the future.
